London is an inspiring place to live and study, offering a rich mix of cultures, architecture and experiences. For many students, where you live plays an important role in how quickly you settle in and feel at home.

The Royal College of Music offers accommodation options designed to support students as they begin their studies in London. This includes the HÂþ»­’s own halls of residence, Prince Consort Village (PCV), located in West London, as well as guidance on partner provider halls and the wider rental market. Whether you are looking for a student community or more independent living, there are options to suit different needs and circumstances.

Prince Consort Village

The Royal College of Music’s hall of residence, Prince Consort Village, provides high-quality accommodation for more than 400 students. The building, which is situated on Goldhawk Road, opened in spring 2016 and comprises studio apartments, en-suite rooms and standard rooms.

Regular events are organised and the Reception team is on hand daily to make students’ lives as easy and comfortable as possible.

Students who would like to register their interest should contact Campus Living Villages, who manage Prince Consort Village, and not the Royal College of Music.

Facilities

is purpose‑built for Royal College of Music students, with acoustically treated bedrooms that allow you to practise at home. Facilities include dedicated practice rooms available 24 hours a day, alongside shared social and study spaces. Additional on‑site services include high‑speed Wi‑Fi, laundry facilities, a staffed reception, a gym and secure bicycle storage.

is located in a peaceful part of south‑west London, recognised for its green spaces and relaxed pace of life. With a strong sense of community and a diverse local neighbourhood, it provides a comfortable and welcoming place for students from around the world to feel at home while studying. 

Transport

Transport

There are several conveniently located outside Prince Consort Village providing connections to Hammersmith, Shepherd’s Bush, Notting Hill and a range of other locations. The area is well served by trains too, with three London Underground stations nearby. 

Queen Alexandra's House

Queen Alexandra’s House (QAH) is centrally located next to the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, near to the HÂþ»­ and other institutions including Imperial College and the Royal College of Art.

QAH is convenient for buses and the underground, and within easy travelling distance of many theatres, museums and art galleries.

QAH is ideal for those new to London and keen to experience life in the capital, whilst benefiting from living in a comfortable environment. They provide fully catered, managed accommodation for female students studying within the Estate of the 1851 Commission (which includes HÂþ»­ students), a stepping stone between school and complete independence.

Alternative accommodation

London offers a wide range of alternative accommodation options, including secure purpose‑built student halls. These typically provide self‑catered, often en‑suite rooms, with shared social spaces, such as bars and gyms, and facilities that support a strong sense of community.
Many HÂþ»­ students, particularly postgraduates and returning students, choose privately rented accommodation for greater independence. London’s rental market offers a variety of options across the city. To support this, the HÂþ»­ Student Services team publishes a list of private landlords offering accommodation to registered HÂþ»­ students.

Local accommodation

HÂþ»­ students are eligible to apply for accommodation at local student halls.

Lee Abbey International Students House

A beautiful Georgian building just a short walk from the HÂþ»­, Lee Abbey have a great selection of room types to suit all needs and budgets. All accommodation is fully catered with vegetarian options and packed meals for days you may have late rehearsals.

There is also a fully equipped kitchen for you to use, four practice rooms & a grand piano.

William Temple House

A small self-catering residence within a short distance from the HÂþ»­, with a practice room, upright piano and private garden.

Private landlords

Private landlords in England are required to carry out ‘’ checks for all prospective adult tenants to make sure the person is not disqualified from renting a property by reason of their immigration status. You have a right to rent if:

  • You have valid immigration permission to be in the UK e.g. you have a student visa
  • You are an EEA/Swiss national or family member of an EEA/Swiss national with status granted under the EU Settlement Scheme
