The Alexander Technique

HÂþ»JD students walking past Blomfield Building
The Alexander Technique works by helping you to identify and prevent the harmful postural habits (how you stand, sit or move) that contribute to, or may be the cause of, stress, pain, or you performing less well than you could.

Ideally, you should be referred for Alexander Technique classes by your teacher, but you can ask the JD office directly too. We accommodate as many requests as possible, but demand is high, so there is often a waiting list.

Priority is given to students with the most urgent need and is subject to us being able to fit it into your timetable once all other core elements have been accommodated.

For the 2024-25 academic year, the charges for Alexander Technique classes are £202 per term (shared lessons) or £404 per term (single lessons); there are a small number of free lessons available for those whose places are supported by JD bursary or Music and Dance Scheme funding.
