Mozart La finta giardiniera K196
Composed when he was just 18 years old, Mozart's La finta giardiniera (The Pretend Gardener) plants seven characters searching for love amongst tangled vines of identities, jealousies and vendettas.
In this vibrant new production staged by Australian opera director Stephen Barlow, comedy blossoms in a garden that traverses four seasons and three centuries; passions burst, tempers wilt and harmony eventually flourishes.
Throughout, Mozart cultivates a musical landscape of playfulness and poignancy that displays the budding genius about to flower.
