In stark contrast, Mahler’s monumental Symphony no 5 takes the listener on a profound emotional journey, from its dramatic opening funeral march to the radiant joy of the final movement. With the deeply moving Adagietto at its heart, this symphony is one of the composer’s most striking and enduring works.

Uniting these two worlds this evening are the HÂþ»­ Symphony Orchestra, and principal conductor of the Hallé, Kahchun Wong, internationally acclaimed for his electrifying stage presence.
